Five unhurried days across two of South India’s most beloved hill stations — from the colonial-era gardens and misty tea slopes of Ooty and Coonoor to the pine forests and panoramic viewpoints of Kodaikanal.
Curated for travellers who want cool mountain air, thoughtful stays and every drive planned around the best light of the day.
On arrival at Coimbatore, you'll be picked up from the airport or railway station and driven up into the Nilgiris to Ooty. Check into your hotel on arrival.
Later, set out for Ooty sightseeing. The Ooty Rose Garden — home to more than 20,000 varieties of roses — belongs to an elite club of 35 rose gardens worldwide honoured with the Garden of Excellence Award for South Asia.
Continue to Ooty Lake, an artificial lake built in 1825 by John Sullivan. Walk the well-laid footpath around the water or take a boat out onto it. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive down to Coonoor — about 20 km from Ooty and one of the largest hill stations in the Nilgiris, set at 1,850 m above sea level.
Explore Sim's Park, a botanical garden established in 1874 with more than 1,000 species of flora including Queensland Karry Pine and the Rudraksha bead tree. Continue to Lamb's Rock (Echo Rock) for a sweeping view over the Coimbatore Plains, then on to Dolphin's Nose for an enchanting view of the Nilgiris and Catherine Falls.
End the day with a walk through Coonoor's celebrated tea gardens — lush green slopes and the refreshing aroma of tea in the air. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Kodaikanal — a scenic seven-hour journey across the Western Ghats. Check in on arrival and freshen up.
In the evening, visit the man-made, star-shaped Kodai Lake. The rest of the evening is free for leisure and shopping in the town's charming bazaars. Overnight stay in Kodaikanal.
After breakfast, set out for a full day of Kodaikanal sightseeing. Begin with Coaker's Walk — a paved pedestrian path with panoramic views of the plains — then take in Upper Lake View and Green Valley View.
Continue to the Golf Course, Pillar Rocks, Devil's Kitchen (Guna Cave) and the Pine Forest — a favourite film shooting location. Finish with Shanthi Valley View, Kurunji Andavar Temple, Chettiar Park and Bryant Park. Overnight stay in Kodaikanal.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Coimbatore airport or railway station for your onward journey home.
